Passion for the Sport, Rigor in Safety

From the Joy of Riding to Risk Awareness Having been a rider since my earliest years, I grew up in an era when safety was often an afterthought. We rode and jumped without helmets; at the time, airbag vests weren't even a concept. After a break to raise my three sons in the world of hockey—a sport where protection is a primary focus—my return to Canada in 2008 marked a turning point. My love for the sport first led me back to volunteering, and eventually into show organization.

The Legacy of Integrity As I became more involved in organizing competitions, and following the project of the World Equestrian Games in Bromont, I founded my first brand, AKKA Legacy. The word "Legacy" was chosen intentionally: it represents the values inherited from my father—honesty and a job well done. These values are now the DNA of EQISAFE.

A Mission: Protecting Those Who Matter In 2020, I was among the first to witness the revolutionary impact of the new generation of airbag vests on reducing injuries. After introducing French brands to the North American market, I chose to put my market expertise and technical rigor directly at the service of riders.

I am convinced that an airbag vest is as essential as a seatbelt in a car. It isn’t life insurance, but it is a crucial barrier for your vital organs and spinal column. We don’t wear protection just for ourselves, but for our loved ones, our clients who rely on us, and our horses. Who will take care of them tomorrow if you are seriously injured? We only have one life.

The EQISAFE Commitment: Safety Without Compromise Today, I carefully select the brands I work with, such as the SAFEFIT by Seaver, for their quality and values. My new role as a Canada Équestre Steward further reinforces this pursuit of transmission and compliance.
